Yaa Ashantewaa K. Archer was born in Kingston, Jamaica. She grew up in Kingston and travelled to England, Denmark and Japan where she has obtained Degree in Sociology, Applied Linguistic and Diploma in Public Relations. Sister Ashante has worked within the youth and community field, with special focus in sustaining youth capacity for the past 15 years.

In 1993, she repatriated to Afrika, first to Kenya, Nigeria and finally in 1999 to South Africa, where she now works as a consultant with Leadership Training, Communication and African centered education, she also lectures in Afrikan History and Culture.
